HOME SAUNA, THOUGHT THROUGH

A good sauna
starts with
the site.

Before the stove. Before the barrel. Measure the pad, the clearance, and the cost of getting the sauna onto it.

01 / SITE BEFORE THE STOVE

Measure twice.
Sit comfortably.

A level pad is not a finished sauna site. Heater clearance, the door swing, and the delivery path each need their own check.

Your site notes

Record the clear dimensions, excluding obstructions.

10 × 12 × 8 ft. 120 sq ft footprint. This records your site. It does not establish heater clearance or delivery.

    01

    Start at the lowest obstruction

Measure to branches, eaves, and the open gate the crate must pass. Height is the clear space above the pad, not the height of the fence.

    02

Separate the stove from the bench

The person count on a product page is not the bench length. Read the interior size and the bench size, then compare them with the pad you recorded.

    03

Check the door and the path in

Leave room for the door to swing and for people to stand outside it. A cabin that ships on a flatbed still has to cross your yard.

02 / THREE SETUPS TO INVESTIGATE

    Choose the trade-offs.
    Then choose the hardware.

Three published Almost Heaven packages, compared from their product pages. These are research candidates, not hands-on endorsements, and not a promise that one of them fits your pad.

    01 / BARREL

    Pinnacle 4 Person Barrel

    Almost Heaven

A barrel kit to investigate when the pad can take an assembled size of 78 by 71 by 81 1/2 inches and a 30-amp, 240-volt circuit.

    Published bundle
Ball-and-socket lumber, 1 3/8 inches thick. Tempered glass. Stainless steel bands, hinges, and fasteners. Interior LED light on a separate 120-volt, 15-amp plug. Sauna stones. Heater listed as 6 kW, 240 volts, 30 amps, hardwired.
    Decisions to make
Interior room is 75 1/4 by 63 1/4 by 69 1/4 inches. The bench is 16 inches wide. Almost Heaven says it ships within 6 to 8 weeks. Confirm the door swing and the path the crate must travel.
    Read the buying notes

Almost Heaven allows wood-burning heaters on cabins, cubes, and large-diameter barrels, and not on every model. Ask whether this 6 by 6 foot barrel is in that group before you plan a stove instead of the listed electric heater.

    02 / CABIN

    Allegheny 6 Person Cabin

    Almost Heaven

An outdoor cabin to investigate when you want a porch and room for up to six, and you can pour a prepared base.

    Published bundle
Nordic spruce, lumber thickness 1 1/2 inches. Door with a tempered glass window. Stainless steel hinges and fasteners. LED light bar and sauna stones. Heater choices listed as 8 kW, 9 kW, or 10.5 kW at 240 volts, on a 40-amp, 45-amp, or 50-amp hardwired circuit. The light is a separate 110-volt, 15-amp plug.
    Decisions to make
Assembled size is 86 inches wide, 125 inches deep, and 92 inches high. Interior room is 75 by 75 by 84 inches. Upper bench 75 by 24 inches. Lower bench 75 by 19 inches. Almost Heaven says cabins belong on a prepared foundation, typically concrete.
    Read the buying notes

The product page says this unit ships by flatbed, with an expected lead time of 8 to 12 weeks, and that the buyer handles the offload (by hand with 1 to 4 people, or with a forklift). Roof the plan around that delivery, not around a parcel truck.

    03 / INDOOR

    Hillsboro 2 Person Indoor

    Almost Heaven

An indoor kit to investigate when two people will use an existing floor and a 30-amp, 240-volt circuit is available in the room.

    Published bundle
Tongue-and-groove spruce, 1 3/8 inch finished thickness. Tempered, tinted full-glass door. Stainless steel hinges and fasteners. Sauna stones. Heater listed as 6 kW, 240 volts, 30 amps, hardwired. Lighting is a separate 110-volt, 15-amp plug. Flooring is not part of the standard kit.
    Decisions to make
Exterior is 63 inches wide, 45 1/4 inches deep, and 80 5/16 inches high. Interior is 58 1/4 by 39 3/8 by 78 inches. The main bench is 58 1/4 by 24 3/8 inches. Almost Heaven says it ships within 4 weeks.
    Read the buying notes

Their indoor FAQ recommends about 2 inches between the sauna and any wall, and says about 12 inches of overhead room is the comfortable margin while you build it. Do not set it on carpet. The listed exterior size is the room of the sauna, not the clear space around it.

    03 / THE WHOLE-PROJECT BUDGET

The box is only part of the bill.

Try a $10,000, $15,000, or $25,000 planning scenario. Replace the assumptions with the configuration you actually choose. These are budget allocations, not merchant quotes.

    HOW THIS GUIDE IS MADE

    Useful research.
    Clear limits.

Simroom is a buying guide from ELI Solutions. We compare published product information and show the questions a complete quote needs to answer. We have not physically tested these saunas.

Budget presets are editorial planning examples, independent of the packages above. A link to a retailer is a source and a next research step, not a claim that its product fits your site or your budget.

Commercial disclosure: This guide uses ordinary retailer links. No affiliate partnership or commission is claimed. Any future affiliate links will be disclosed before they appear.

    Sources, corrections and privacy

Product facts come from the Almost Heaven pages linked on the setup cards, reviewed October 12, 2026. Foundation and wood-heater limits come from the outdoor FAQ on the Allegheny page. Indoor wall and overhead notes come from the indoor FAQ on the Hillsboro page. If a line here disagrees with the retailer, the retailer page wins.

Corrections are made by rechecking those pages and changing the checked date. This guide does not keep a separate stock or price feed.
